Abstract

Background: There are many factors affect diarrhea, but the behavior has a close connection with people health status. WHO said that diarrhea is the cause of death children under five years old in the world. 2074 cases of diarrhea occured in Karang Tengah’s health centers - Demak. This research is aims to determine the relationship between clean and healthy behavior with the diarrhea incidence to children under five years old in the Karang Tengah’s Health Center - Demak. Methods: This study is used non-experimental research design with cross sectional correlation analyzed by Chi Square test covering the univariate analysis of the variables Clean and Healthy Behavior and variable diarrhea to children under five years old , and bivariate analysis of the variables Clean and Healthy Behavior on the diarrhea incidence to children under five years old. The samples in this research were 57 respondents. Sampling is take by simple random sampling technique. Results: The results of the bivariate analysis of 57 respondents which is the mother of children under five years old health center who check their child in Karang Tengah’s Health Center - Demak obtained P value 0.001 with the P value <α (0.05), so concluded that Ha is accepted, it’s means that there is a relationship between Clean and Healthy Behavior and the diarrhea incidence to children under five years old in the Karang Tengah’s Health Center-Demak. The results of the analysis obtained OR = 10.000 which means thas a bad Clean and Healthy Behavior or very bad Clean and Healthy Behavior has 10 times riskier gain diarrhea compared to those respondents who has an average or good Clean and Healthy Behavior. Conclusion: Based on the research on 57 respondents in the Karang Tengah’s Health Center - Demak, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between Clean and Healthy Behavior with the diarrhea incidence in children under five years old in the Karang Tengah’s Health Center.
