Abstract

Water is an important compound for human life and living creatures. Water pollution caused by organic and inorganic components, derived from human activities such as heavy industrial waste heavy metals such as metal Iron. When metal Iron into the body with high doses it will cause poisoning. The content (Fe2+) in water can be derived by using duck eggshell powder because the duck eggshell powder contains chemical components such as CaCO3 and mucopolysaccharide acid protein. This study aims to determine the initial Fe2+ level, determine the percentage (%) decrease in Fe2+ levels in water, know the effect of concentration variation using duck eggshell to decrease Fe2+ ion content in water. This research type is experiment. The object of the research is Fe2+ 50 ppm concentration, then decrease Fe2+ level in water using duck eggshell based on concentration variation, each sample is determined Fe2+ level by spectrophotometric method. The results of the research were optimum wavelength and optimum 510 nm and 15 min, the initial concentration (Fe2+) was 49,69 mg / L. The lowest of Fe2+ with variation of concentration and soaking time variation with the addition of duck egg shell powder 10% w / v and 5 hours contact time was obtained highest result 81,92%. The analysis of duck shell powder variation and the variation of soaking time have a significant effect on the decrease of Fe2+ level. Keywords: Decreased levels of Fe2 + ions, Duck eggshell powder
