Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused by microorganism invation and multiplication in to urinary tract with significance amount. Gram negative bacteria are microorganism which the most common cause of UTI and could found in urine (bacteriuria). Bacteriuria can detected by nitrit urin test. Gram negative bacteria reduce nitrat to nitrit with aid of reductase enzyme after bacteria contaminate urin ≥ 4 hours. Infection in urinary tract made leucocyte activation and occur increased of urine leucocyte (leucocyturia). This analytical research study is aims to known correlation of nitrite and urine leucocyte count in UTI. 52 samples were RS Muhammadiyah Roemani’s patients with urinary examination nitrite positive used dipstik and was counting urine leucocyte. The result showed that urine nitrit positive and increased of urine leucocyte (82,7%) and average leucocyte count was 26 – 30 in hight view field. The statistical Rank Spearman correlation test showed r = 0,689 and p = 0,000 < 0,05. It can be concluded that there is significance correlation of nitrite and leucocyte count of urine. Keyword : UTI, Nitrite Urine and Leucocyte Urine
