Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the human immune system and makes the body more susceptible to infection. Transmission of HIV can be through body fluids through sexual intercourse, whether homosexual or heterosexual, syringe to narcotic users, transfusion of blood components and from HIV-infected mothers to born babies. The main target of the HIV virus is to infect the CD4 lymphocyte cells, these cells function centrally in the immune system. The immune system can control HIV infection, but from time to time HIV will cause a decrease in the number of CD4 lymphocyte cells, to reduce long-term HIV replication will lead to opportunistic infections HIV sufferers should take life-long antiretrovirals, this is not done to treat HIV virus but only reduce the replication of the virus. Side effects of the use of antiretroviral drugs that occur toxicity of drugs that will cause disruption of liver function. Liver function impairment is characterized by transminase enzyme expenditure of SGOT and SGPT. SGOT and SGPT are parameters of liver function examination which if the SGOT and SGPT levels above the normal value indicates a liver dysfunction. The type of this research is analytic research with cross sectional approach. This study was conducted on 27 HIV respondents who followed KDS from total population that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria in BALKESMAS Semarang. Statistical analysis using spearmans test. The test result showed that there was no long relationship of HIV with SGOT and SGPT values of p> 0,005. Keywords: HIV, SGOT, SGPT
