Abstract

Background: House trash can cause infectious diseases for patients, families or officers and pollutants that need special attention. Therefore, the nurse's behavior in disposing of waste in the hospital is important to observe. The behavior of nurses in complying with existing regulations in waste disposal is important because every infectious and non-infectious waste produced has its place and should not be mixed between infectious and non-infectious waste due to any infectious waste generated have their own procedures in handling them. Objective: To identified the description of the behavior of nurses in disposing of waste at Rumah Sakit Nasional Diponegoro Semarang . Method: The design used in this research is descriptive research, nurses at Rumah Sakit Nasional Diponegoro Semarang . The research data was taken with the help of enumerator. This research uses cross sectional method that is assessment on some observed population. Samples taken by purposive sampling technique that is 68 result of research is analyzed with frequency distribution and percentage. Result: Based on the results showed, the characteristics of nurses at National Hospital Diponegoro Semarang mostly women (70.6%), mostly young adults (20-30 years) (96.5%), mostly nursing DIII Nursing (70.6%). The results showed that most of respondents had good knowledge (88.2%), most of them had attitude in very good category (89,7%), and most of respondent had action in category according to person (83,8%). Conclusion: The behavior of the nurses in disposing of garbage is in the appropriate category.
