Abstract

Surgery will give an emotional reaction to the patient, such as anxiety. Anxiety causes adverser physical effects for patients who will undergo surgery. Anxiety can be caused by a patient’s ignorance of the surgical procedure. The provision of information through informed consent to improve patient knowledge becomes very important. The aim of this study to know the relationship between the knowledge level and the satisfaction of giving informed consent to the preoperative patient at the Kutilang Installation of RSUP. Dr. Kariadi of Semarang. This study design used correlation study with crossectional approach. Sampling technique used accidental sampling on 70 respondents. Test results with spearman rank shows no reletionship between the knowledge level and the satisfaction of giving informed consent to the preoperative patient at the Kutilang Installation of RSUP. Dr. Kariadi of Semarang, showed by p value 0,082. Recommendation of the study is to improve the effective communication to the patient so that the patient is satisfied with the service available in RSUP. Dr. Kariadi of Semarang.
