Abstract

Caring behavior as one of the main professional and personal value in providing normative standard in acting and behaving toward the people we care about. Caring behavior is a form of the nursing services. This study aims to find out the description of nurses’ caring behavior at Merak room on the ground floor of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. It was a descriptive quantitative research with survey design. Nurses’ caring behavior was the variable of the research. The variabel in this research is caring behaviour of nurse. The number of this research is 68 respondents who were taken from the average of total patient’s in the basement of Merak room on the ground floor of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. This research was conducted in June 2017 – march 2018 of Merak on the ground floor of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Seamarang. The research result from the research, it was found that nurses’ caring behavior at Merak room was considered to be good as stated by 38 respondents (55.91%) and 30 respondents (44.1%) stated that the nurses’ caring behavior was quite good. According to Swanson, caring behavior consists of five dimensions. The first is maintaining belief dimension which was considered to be good from 45 respondents (66.2%) and quite good 23 respondents (33.8%). Knowing dimension was good at 58.8% and quite good according to 28 respondents (41.2%). The being with dimension was good at 61.8% and quite good from 26 respondents (38.2%). The doing for dimension was good for at 60.3% and quite good for 27 respondents (39.7%). Enabling dimension was good at 75% and quite good for 17 respondents (25%). The result of this study is expected nurses to all patient, especially patient at the ground floor space of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang, so patient fell satisfield to received care services nursing, feel comfortable, secure, minimize patient complaints and increase public confidence in service at RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang.
