Abstract

Syphilis inspection had the way of detecting a disease, that was conducted by using diagnostic and serology test. The applicable test was the serology test that had two types, that was non-treponema “Veneral Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL)” and treponema “Treponema Pallida Hemaglutination (TPHA)” test. Nontreponemal screening tests The Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) does not use the original antigen of Treponema pallidum but uses an antigen consisting of standardized cardiolipines, cholesterol and lysitin, whereas Treponemal TPHA Test having original antigen from Trepnemal is not known for sure the level of sensitivity from VDRL test to gold standard on TPHA test. The objective of the researcher is to conduct further research on the extent to which the sensitivity of the VDRL test is used as a screening for a disease and followed by the TPHA test as a confirmation of the disease. This type of research is a "diagnostic test" study. The result of sensitivity test of VDRL to TPHA is 83% it means the sensitivity of VDRL to TPHA as gold standart antigen is high.
