Abstract

Examination of cholesterol knows whether or not there is an increase in cholesterol levels in the body. Cholesterol examination may use serum or plasma samples. Specimens taken from the dicentrifuge veins at 3000 rpm for 5-15 minutes. The reality on the ground is often ignored by some technicians by increasing speed and reducing the centrifuge time to shorten the inspection. Centrifuge time is too short will cause serum and the substances contained therein are not completely separated from blood cells that will cause false low results, while the time of centrifuge is too long will damage the compound lipoprotein and also will cause the sample hemolysis. The aim of the study was to know the difference of cholesterol yield based on serum centrifuge duration. The type of research is analytic with student population DIII Health Analyst University of Muhammadiyah Semarang. The sample was taken randomly as many as 9 people, then the sample was checked with centrifuge time for 5, 10, and 20 minutes. The results showed the average results of cholesterol concentration in the centrifuge for 5 minutes at 157.89 mg / dL, for 10 minutes for 166.78 mg / dL, for 20 minutes of 179.33 mg / dL and the results of the difference centrifuge for 5 minutes and 10 minutes is 20.73%, for 10 minutes and 20 minutes is 29.26%, for 5 minutes and 20 minutes is 50%. One Way Anova statistical test shows the value of significance of 0.013 <0.05 then it can be concluded that there is a difference in the results of cholesterol levels based on the time centrifuge. Keywords: cholesterol, centrifuge time, speed centrifuge
