Abstract

One of the treatments performed in patients with chronic renal failure is medical hemodialysis with the aim of replacing the function of the damaged kidneys, because the kidneys are unable to process and excrete the waste products from the body's metabolism. The success rate of the hemodialysis program is also determined by the diit pattern in patients with renal failure. Longer hemodialysis programs and with diit patterns with both food and beverage restrictions will lead to boredom and disobedience to recommended diit programs that can be a serious problem that can reduce the success rate of therapy and the life expectancy of patients with renal failure. It is necessary to see the background of patient education level, so that understanding about the importance of diit in patients with renal failure can be given by health personnel. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a correlation between education level and adherence of diit in patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis in Rajawali Room Dr. Kariadi Hospital of Semarang. The research design used is correlational analysis, with cross sectional approach. The process of this research has been conducted in November 2017 until February 2018 in Rajawali Room Dr. Kariadi Hospital of Semarang with sampling technique total sampling a sample of 62 respondents. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between education level and adherence of diit in patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis in Rajawali Room Dr. Kariadi Hospital of Semarang (p-value=0.001). So the nurse can determine the method of health education about the patient's diarrhea chronic kidney disease mostly with the level of primary education.
