Abstract

Blood donors with anticoagulant CPDA-1 which is saved outside the body (blood bag) the conditioin is very different from the condition in the body. During storage, the erythrocytes will undergo biochemical and structural changes. The longer of blood is stored, to much erythrocyte cells are destroyed and the smaller the amount of erythrocytes that can survive so as to decrease the hemoglobin. This analytical research study was conducted to determine the result of hemoglobin levels and total erythrocytes in whole blood are stored immediately and 2 weeks in donor blood bags. Types of the research is observational analytics. The study population is male and female donors aged 20-35 years who donate blood in UTD PMI of Semarang. There were 32 sampels. The results of examination was done by statistic test of hemoglobin level not normally distributed by Mann Withney test with significance value 0,643 and the count of erythrocyte normally distributed by Independent Sample t Test with significance value 0,857 then the result of both is more than 0,05 so it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the hemoglobin level ang the erythrocytes count in whole blood that is stored immediately and 2 weeks in the donor bag.
