Abstract
Family Planning is one of the efforts to improve community health status, the most popular KB is injecting KB. There are two types of injectable contraception that are widely used by the community namely Depo provera and Cyclofem. The use of injectable KB contains estrogen and progesterone hormones in the body that play a role in lowering LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in total cholesterol levels in women who used injectable contraception. The type of analytic research with observational method and cross sectional design design, the sample of research were 56 respondents consisting of 28 respondents using contraception Depo provera and 28 respondents using Cyclofem contraception. The study was done by directly measuring the total cholesterol level of the sample, then the data distribution was analyzed using shapiro wilk followed by independent t test. The results showed total cholesterol levels in women who used injectable contraception Depo provera had an average of 216.96 mg/dL. Total cholesterol levels in women using Cyclofem injectable contraceptives had an average of 200.14 mg/dL. There is a difference in total cholesterol levels in women who use injectable contraception, where respondents who use injectable contraception Depo provera have higher cholesterol levels (0.016 <0.05).
