Abstract
Morbidity and mortality rate in diarrhea are considered to be high. Nurses as health professionals can give contribution to the handling of diarrhea in accordance to the role, such giving education to parents, specifically mothers regarding diarrhea prevention. This research was aimed to find out the influence of health education on mother’s attitude regarding prevention of diarrhea in children at Kendal Islamic Hospital. It was a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. The sample for this research was 54 respondents which were taken using consecutive sampling technique. For the data analysis, the researcher used Wilcoxon’s match pair test. The research result showed that mothers’ attitude before the health education intervention was both adequate and inadequate with the equal 27 (50.0%) respondents. Mothers’ attitude after the health education intervention was mostly adequate with 31 (57.4%) respondents. It can be concluded that there was an influence of health education on mother’s attitude regarding to the prevention of diarrhea in children in Kendal Islamic Hospital with p value 0.0046. It is expected for the mothers to improve the attitude regarding to the diarrhea prevention, especially in maintaining clean and healthy environment, toys, and also foods for the children.
