Abstract
In Indonesia, MMR is still quite high based on SDKI 2012, Maternal Mortality Rate (AKI) reaches 359 per 100 thousand live births (MOH, 2014). The purpose of this study was to know the effect of early breastfeeding initiation on uterine contractions in post-SC patients in Kendal Kendal RSI Surgery Room. This research is a quasi experiment with pre-test design designwith control group design. The sample of this research are post SC mothers in RSI Kendal Surgery Room, 13 intervention groups and 13 control groups. Tests in this study using Mann-whytney. The results of the study were mostly respondents aged 20-35 years, never did SC before, indication of SC PEB, no history of IMD, intervention group did IMD counted 10 respondents (76.9%), strong uterine contraction of 11 respondents (84, 6%) and weak uterine contractions of 2 respondents (15.4%). The control group that did not perform IMD were 13 respondents (100.0%) and those who did IMD 0 respondents (0.00%), weak uterine contraction of 12 respondents (92.3%) and a strong uterine contraction of 1 respondent (7,7%) and there is influence of intervention and control group with p value 0,001 (p <0,05). Based on the results of this study is expected health professionals will help post-SC mothers to help do IMD because IMD has benefits for patients and their babies.
