Abstract
Addition of hazardous chemicals including borax in school children snacks was very worrying and has a negative impact on child development. The general objective of the study was to identify borax in children's snacks in the school area of Serengan Sub-district, Surakarta City, so the specific purpose was to identify the positive borax and negative borax contents in children's snacks in the school area of Serengan District, Surakarta City. This type of research was descriptive laboratory. The study was conducted on 15 snacks samples in the Serengan sub-district of Surakarta City taken for 4 days in July 2018. Borax content examination was carried out at the Surakarta City Regional Health Laboratory using a vulcanic px borax burner d 550. The results of the study revealed that the majority of food snacks samples did not detect borax and there were only 4 food samples containing positive borax, namely type of food, galantin fried tempura, and eggs.
