Abstract
Kecombrang stem (Etlingera elatior) contains several chemical compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids which are used as antifungals to Trichophyton sp. Trichophyton Fungus is a dermatophytic fungus that causes superficial mycosis. The aim of the study was to determine the inhibitory power of ethanol extract of kecombrang stem (Etlingera elatior) on the growth of Trichophyton sp with a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. Laboratory research using well diffusion method. Using a pure Trichophyton Sp sample which is then standardized with a Mc Farland standard of 0.5. Test media using Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) and separate wells with a concentration of 100μL of ethanol extract of kecombrang stem were then incubated at room temperature and carried out every 6 hours. The results of research on ethanol extract of kecombrang stem with a concentration of 100% with a inhibition zone diameter of 6.5 mm were smaller than the inhibitory power of positive ketokanazol control. Key Words : Trichophyton sp, Kecombrang stem, Antifungi
