Abstract

Examination of uric acid is not a routine check, but as an additional check when there are certain complaints or as a supporter of the examination that is when the levels of urea and creatinine are high, so that the sample is not immediately discarded and stored in the refrigerator and some are stored in room or room temperature. Storage of samples at room temperature is needed when there is a lack of facilities, damage to storage devices or inadequate availability of electricity. Samples should be analyzed within 4 hours. Examination of uric acid is an additional examination or as a support for examination, usually the examination is carried out using serum that has been stored for 24 hours to avoid repeated sampling. This type of research is experimental in a laboratory, based on RAL (Complete Randomized Design) with 9 research subjects. The subjects of this study were patients who underwent examination of gout at the prodia clinic laboratory. The sample of this study was serum which was stored for 24 hours at room temperature and refrigerator temperature. The serum directly examined is used as a control. This serum will be examined for uric acid levels using the Uricase method. The data obtained were tested by ANOVA test using SPSS 21 program. Research results Average value based on data from the examination of uric acid levels in the direct serum check is 3.03 mg / dL, in the serum store 24 hours the room temperature is 3.39 mg / dL, and in the serum store 24 hours refrigerator temperature is 3.08 mg / dL. ANOVA test results with α 0.05 obtained a significant value of 0.482 (p-value> 0.05). Conclusion: There were no differences in serum uric acid levels that were directly examined and serum stored for 24 hours at room temperature and refrigerator temperature. Keywords: Uric Acid, Serum, Storage Temperature
