Abstract
Background: Worms are an infection that still occurs in many people with intestinal worm infections, whose life cycle is through the soil. the purpose of the study is to find out the picture of helminthiasis infection whose life cycle is through soil based on behavior. Method: This type of research is an observational descriptive study with a questionnaire equipped with laboratory tests. This study uses a cross-sectional approach. The sample population was 162 children from grade 1 to grade 5 with a total sample of 62 children with the calculation of Slovin samples. Variables of this study are hand washing habits, hand nail health, habit of playing on the ground, habits of wearing footwear, the presence of eggs in the school land and the incidence of helminthiasis infection in the life cycle through the soil. Data collection by interview and Chi-square statistical test. Results: Children who had bad hand washing habits were 69.4%, unhealthy in maintaining hand nail health 72.6%, used to play at 88.7% of the land, had the habit of wearing 27.4% poor footwear and no eggs worms in the school area are 100%, and the incidence of worm infections is 6.5%. Conclusion: There are 43 children who have bad hand washing habits, there are 45 children who are less healthy in maintaining the health of their fingernails. there were worm eggs in the school area, and the incidence of helminthiasis infection was 4 positive children, namely 3 children infected with Ascaris Lumbricoides and 1 child infected with Trichuris Trichiura worm.
