Abstract

Background: Diarrhea is a disease characterized by an increase in the frequency of defecation more than usual (3 times / day) accompanied by changes in stool consistency to become liquid, with or without blood and or lenders. Diarrhea can be caused by several factors, including microbiological factors and environmental factors. The dug well is a means used as a source of clean water by the community in Tlogorejo Village. Distance of pollutant sources such as livestock pens and septic tanks with dug wells is still less than 10 meters. This study aims to determine the relationship between microbial quality and environmental sanitation of water sources with the incidence of diarrhea in families in the Tlogorejo village. Method: This research is a type of analytic research with an observation method that uses a case control approach. The study population was diarrhea patients who examined at Karangawen 2 Public Health Center in May until June 2018 who lived in Tlogorejo Village based on data from Karangawen 2 Health Center with a total of 94 people and samples in this study were 38 samples consisting of case samples and control samples. Sampling using the Sample Random Sampling method. Results: Of the 76 wells dug samples, 52.63% of the dams had met the microbiological quality requirements of water; environmental sanitation of water sources that meet the requirements of 42.11%; the incidence of diarrhea in families as many as 38 families (50%) and 38 non-diarrhea (50%). Test the relationship of microbiological quality with the incidence of diarrhea p = 0,000. Test the relationship of sanitation of water sources with the incidence of diarrhea p = 0,000. Conclusion: There is a relationship between microbiological quality and environmental sanitation of water sources with the incidence of diarrhea in families in Tlogorejo Village, Karangawen District, Demak Regency. Keywords: Microbiological quality, environmental sanitation of water sources, incidence of diarrhea.
