Abstract

Background: One way of controlling Aedes aegypti larvae growth in DHF endemic areas is conducted by using Temefos or known as Abate. It is reported that Aedes aegpty is getting more resistant to temefos. This study aims to determine the mortality of Aedes aegypti due to contact with Temefos 0.02 mg / L. Method: This quantitative descriptive study applies a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were 3-4 early Aedes aegypti larvae from F1 to F4 generation, which were obtained from bred larvae. The calculation of larval mortality was carried out after 24 hours of contact with Temefos 0.02 mg / L for 4 repetitions in 6 different sites such as three villages in Kedungmundu. Results: The first paralysis/collapse occurred in the 40th minutes for Sendang Mulyo I, II, and Kedung Mundu II. Whereas, in the 35th minutes, there was fainting larvae in Sendang Guwo I and II and in the 45th minutes of observation, the larvae collapse occurred in Kedung Mundu I. The results showed that 100 larvae fainted in Sendang Mulyo I, Sendang Guwo II, Kedung Mundu I, and Kedung Mundu II after contact with insecticides for 24 hours. Whereas the number of larvae mortality in Sendang Mulyo II and Sendang Guwo I was 98. Conclusion: It is found that Sendang Mulyo I, Sendang Guwo II, Kedung Mundu I, and Kedung Mundu II number of larvae mortality was 100 %. In addition, 98 % larvae in Sendang Mulyo II and Sendang Guwo I was tolerant to Temefos 0,02 mg/L. Keywords: Vulnerability, Aedes aegypti larvae, Temefos 0.02 mg / L.
