Abstract
Background: Household wastewater used is turbid and foul-smelling. The impact of wastewater is that it can cause health problems. Waste water needs to be processed by using natural aloe vera coagulant containing mucilago. Method: The type of research used is true experiment with the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The object of research is household waste water in Jalan Citarum Tengah Semarang. Variations in the concentration of aloe vera used were 0.4 ml / l, 0.6 ml / l, 0.8 ml / l. 6 repetitions were carried out so that the number of observations of 24 samples consisted of 18 treatment samples and 4 control samples. Observations were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test. Result: TSS before treatment in wastewater is 92 mg / l. The percentage reduction in TSS after treatment using natural aloe vera coagulant with a variation of concentration of 0.4 ml / l is 55.85%, 0.6 ml / l which is 71.39%, 0.8 ml / l which is 66.10%. The highest reduction in TSS is at a concentration of 0.6 ml / l. The pH of wastewater before treatment 7 while after treatment 6.02-7.20 which means that the pH is still in the optimum range. Conclusion: There is a difference in turbidity (TSS) of household wastewater at various variations of aloe vera concentration and the most effective concentration of 0.6 ml / l.
