Abstract

Background : Tooth loss is a dental and oral health problem. Losing one or several teeth can result in impaired speech function. Tooth loss can be caused by caries, necrosis, periodontitis, tooth impaction, and occlusal dysfunction. Current community needs for dental and oral health care are increasing not only among the elderly but also among teenagers. Dentures are artificial teeth to replace the missing natural teeth. Use of valplast or acrylic dentures can cause problems for oral health if treatment is incorrect, dental and oral diseases can occur such as caries, stomatitis, gingivitis, xerostomia, candidiasis and periodontal disease. Purpose : To understand valplast and acrylic denture wear maturation index. Method : The research is an analytic descriptive applying Cross Sectinal Design. The subject is denture-wearing saliva. The independent variable is the maturation index and the dependent variable is the use of valplast and acrylic dentures.The analysis is by independent t test. Result : There is a difference between the valplast and acrylic denture wear maturation indexes.Conclusion : There are differences in valplast and acrylic denture wear maturation indexes.
