Abstract
Background: The quality of hearing is the response of the ear in recognizing the sound affected by noise exposure produced by the work environment. Confection is one of the home industries where the production process uses sewing machines and obras which can cause noise. The problems found in the preliminary study contained 2 corrections with noise levels of more than 85 dB, working hours between 7-9 hours and many workers who did not use Ear Protector. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to hearing quality in the confectionary worker. Method: This type of research is analytical research with a cross-sectional study approach. Samples from this study were confectionary workers in Kedungdowo Village Kaliwungu District Kudus City as many as 101 workers. The statistical analysis used is the Pearson Chisquare test. Measurement of hearing quality using an audiometer, and noise using a sound level meter. Age variables, use of ear protectors, and history of hearing loss were carried out by interview and observation. Results: Workers who have a dose of noise> 100% as much as 41.6%, age <40 years 80.2%, category not using use of ear protectors 98.0%, history of hearing loss 78.2% and hearing quality mild category 54.5%. Variables related to hearing quality were dose of noise (p value = 0.009), age (p value = 0,000), history of hearing loss (p value = 0.006), while the unrelated variables were APT use (p value = 0.790). Conclusion: There is a relationship between noise dose, age, and hearing loss with hearing quality. There was no relationship between APT use and hearing quality in confectionary workers in Kedungdowo Village, Kaliwungu District, Kudus City. Keywords: Hearing quality, confectionary workers, noise dose, use of ear protectors
