The addition of formaldehyde which is permitted in cosmetics, especially shampoo and conditioner by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) with a maximum limit of 0.2% or 2000 ppm (parts per million) and if the content> 0.05% must include labels in the packaging. Objective: This study aims to determine the presence, level of formalin and distribution of the purchase price of the presence and level of formalin shampoo and conditioner not labeled as formaldehyde. Methods: 43 samples of shampoo and conditioner were tested in the laboratory for the presence of formalin and formalin levels. Analysis using descriptive analysis. Results: the presence of formalin from shampoo contained 20% positive formalin. Shampoo has a minimal formalin level of 0.169 ppm, a maximum of 15.148 ppm, an average of 8.949 ppm and a standard deviation of 5.776 ppm. Conclusion: the presence of formalin detected only in shampoo samples was 20%, with formaldehyde levels below the threshold and allowed not to be labeled "formaldehyde" on the packaging.
