Abstract

Background: Kedungmundu Community Health Center is one of the health centers located in the city of Semarang which includes 7 villages. The larva-free rate in the Kedungmundu health center area has not reached the national target that has been set at 90.14%. The incidence of dengue cases in 2017 reached 33.43%. From January to early March 2018 five endemic villages were found. This study aims to determine the relationship between the characteristics of water disposal sites (TPA) and the practice of eradicating 3M plus mosquito nests in families with the presence of Aedes mosquito larvae. Method: this type of research uses analytic analytic with cross sectional study design. Independent variables are landfill characteristics (number, type, material, type of water source, presence of cover, color, location, water pH, water conditions) and the practice of eradicating 3M plus mosquito nests in the family, the dependent variable is the presence of Aedes mosquito larvae. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with a sample size of 200 houses. Results: Aedes mosquito larvae found in this study were Ae. Aegypti and Ae. Albopictus. From the bivariate analysis, it is found that the characteristics of water reservoirs that are related to the presence of mosquito larvae are the number of TPA (p = 0.0003), the existence of cover (p = 0.000), water conditions (p = 0.000) and also the 3M plus PSN practice in the family (0.000). with the presence of Aedes mosquito larvae. Factors of water conditions (p = 0.000; OR = 0.140), the presence of landfill cover (p = 0.005; OR = 2.513), and the practice of 3M plus PSN (p = 0.000; OR = 0.059) have a relationship with the presence of Aedes mosquito larvae. It is necessary to increase eradication of mosquito nests independently on the landfill which is often not realized to be cleaned both outside and inside the house.
