Abstract
Background: Food is a basic need for humans. One of the basic foods for the body is fruits, but currently there is still the use of dangerous food additives into the fruit, namely formalin. Objective: To find out the presence and level of formalin in grapes and apples of imported and local types. Method: The type of research used is descriptive with a cross sectional approach. Objects are imported and local grapes and apples. Data analysis using Chi-Square test. Results: This study showed that 3 samples from 15 samples identified in the laboratory were positive for formalin (20%) with formalin levels of 30,360 ppm, 30,560 ppm, and 37,584 ppm. Conclusion: the presence of formaldehyde in grapes and apples is still found as much as 20% with levels exceeding the threshold, so as to reduce the level of public health.
