Abstract
Background: Contact dermatitis is dermatitis caused by substances or substances attached to the skin. One of the industries which is exposed to chemicals is the tofu industry. Besides being exposed to chemicals, contact dermatitis is caused by frequent contact with water, years of service, personal hygiene, use of PPE, and a history of skin diseases. This study aims to determine the relationship between gender, personal hygiene, use of PPE, temperature and humidity with the incidence of contact dermatitis in tofu home industry workers. Method: This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study were 36 people, using total sampling. Independent variables include gender, personal hygiene, use of PPE, temperature, and humidity while the dependent variable is the incidence of contact dermatitis. The statistical analysis used in this research is Chi Square. Results: Workers who are female workers as much as 66.7%, workers with personal hygiene in the unfavorable category namely 55.6%, workers with the use of PPE in incomplete categories of non-routine use as much as 75.0%, temperatures in home industries which is the high temperature category (> 28 oC) as much as 72.2% and high humidity (> 60%) as much as 50.0% while from the results of the examination of worker doctors with irritant contact dermatitis as much as 61.1%, the variables associated with contact dermatitis are gender variables (p value 0.011), personal hygiene (p value 0.003), use of PPE (p value 0.014), temperature (p value 0.026), humidity (p value 0.017). Conclusion: there is a relationship between gender, personal hygiene, use of PPE, temperature and humidity with the incidence of contact dermatitis in tofu home industry workers in the Karanggondang Village, Mlonggo District, Jepara District.
