Abstract

Background:Orthodontic patients at drg Ariani Tandu’s dental clinic evenly have gingivitis during control. These is because too many dental plaque on the patient’s teeth. One of the cause of gingivitis is on the use of orthodontic, the success of orthodontik treatment effected by dental hygiene and mounth. The purpose of study is to determine the relationship between frequency brushing, flossing, and cariogenic diet with gingivitis on orthodontic user. Methode: This research is a deskriptive study analytic with cross-sectional design. Independent Variable frequency brushing, frequency flossing, cariogenic diet and dependent variable gingivitis. Population in this study is all orthodontic users in dental clinik drg. Ariani Tandu and the sample of this study of this study using accidental sampling in total 60 peoples. Analysis of data used in this study is Chi-square. Results: The Result of statistical that 51.7% do toothbrush less than twice a day, 88.3% do flossing less than twice a day, 60.0% cariogenicdiet category often and 5.0% have gingivitis weight. Conclusion: No relationship frequency brushing and flossing and cariogenic diet with the value of p value 0.002, 0.004 and 0.0021. based on the statistical analysis, orthodontic users can increase dental hygiene and limit cariogenic diet so it doesn’t cause disease complications in oral and orthodontic treatment can be seccessful.
