Abstract

Background: Irritant contact dermatitis is an inflammatory reaction of the skin caused by the toxic effects of the irritant agent with the skin. Lack of knowledge of occupational safety and health for blacksmith workers with exposure to irritant material at work can cause irritation to the skin, so that the function of skin resistance will damage. The purpose of this study was to determine the factor related to the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis in blacksmith workers in RT 02 RW 01 Hadipolo Village, Jekulo District, Kudus District Method: This research type is quantitative analytic with cross sectional approach The population of all blacksmith workers at RT 02 RW 01 Hadipolo Village, Jekulo District, Kudus Regency was 75 workers. The sample of research is 50 workers blacksmith. Independent variables include contact length, length of service, the age, and personal hygiene. Statistical analysis used is Chi Square. Results: Overtime worker 19 employees (38%), 32 year old workers (64%), 36 adults (72%), personal hygiene workers with 23 employees (46%), contact length (p value 0,049), length of service (p value 0,000), the age (p value 0,008), personal hygiene (p value 0.000). Conclusions : There was a correlation beetwen contact length, length of service, the age and personal hygiene with irritants contact dermatitis on blacksmith workers in RT 02 RW 01 Hadipolo Village District Jekulo Kudus District.
