Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a disease characterized by systolic >140 and diastolic >90 mmHg. Nowadays people already know a lot of herbal plants, one of them is watermelon which contains potassium that can help lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of watermelon juice to patients with hypertension in RW 23 Sendangmulyo Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City. Research Method: This study is a descriptive study in which it is involving 2 respondents aged 63 and 65 years old to be treated using watermelon juice based on journal apllication. The study examines the respondents by giving them watermelon juice 2 times a day in the morning and evening for 7 days, with a dose of 300 grams of watermelon juice, and the evaluation was done on the 7th day. Result: The study reveals a decrease in blood pressure of both patients by 10-20 mmHg. Conclusion: Respondents 1-2 experience a decrease in blood pressure after being treated using watermelon juice and the application of using this method can be used as recommendation for community nurses in providing nursing care for hypertensive patients.
