Abstract
Hypertension is one of the hemodynamic parameters that describes a situation where pressure and blood flow can maintain perfusion or exchange of substances in body tissues (Muttaqin, 2009). Clinical manifestations of hypertension are pain. Pain is a condition that is more than a single sensation caused by certain stimuli. Pain stimuli can be in the form of physical and / or mental stimuli, while damage can occur to actual tissue or to an individual's ego function (Potter & Perry, 2010). Back massage can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients because back massage can stimulate the release of endhorpin hormones, this hormone can provide a calm effect on patients and vasodilation in blood vessels so that blood vessels relax and there will be a decrease in blood pressure (kozier & erb, 2002 ) The design used in the writing of this case study is descriptive study in the form of pre-test and post-test, subjects were hypertensive patients with female sex as many as 2 patients aged 64 and 62 years, and were willing to become respondents. Based on the results of the application, the authors conclude that there is a decrease in pain scale by 33.3% and a decrease in blood pressure before being given at 160 / 100-155 / 90 and after being given at 145 / 90-145 / 90 is given scientific back massage for 15 minutes. There is an effect of giving back massage as a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Keywords: Hypertension, Pain, Back massage.
