Abstract
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a non-infectious disease wich called the silent killer, because it often does not show the symptom. Hypertension is a serious problem and that is a disease commonly found in the community. A holistic intervention can be done to treat hypertension, including acupressure therapy to reduce blood pressure. Acupressure can stimulate mast cells to release histamine as a mediator of vasodilation of blood vessels and it can stimulate the pituitary gland to produce endorphins in the body so that the body relaxes and there is a decrease in blood pressure. The purpose of this case study was to find out the description of the patient's blood pressure reduction after being given acupressure therapy. The design of this case study is a descriptive study, with a pre test and post test design approach. This sample of this case study is hypertensive patients in the Rowosari Tembalang Semarang Health Center. The sample of this case study is consisted of 3 adult female respondents with a Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) value of more than 107 mmHg, the respondents were not pregnant, there was no bleeding, not in an emergency condition and there were no tumors. Acupressure therapy is carried out for 3 days for 15 minutes. The results obtained in patients who are initially hare a hypertensition on moderato category can decrease to be mild category with an average reduction in Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) of 12.1 mmHg. These results indicate that the administration of acupressure therapy is effective in reducing blood pressure. Acupressure therapy can be used as one of the interventions for nursing care in hypretensi patients. Keywords: Hypertension, acupressure, decrease in blood pressure.
