Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease with chronic properties. There are more than 220 million DM sufferers worldwide in 2011 and 80% more sufferers in developing countries including Indonesia (Soegondo, 2009). A survey conducted by the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Health's Research and Development Agency (Balitbang, Depkes RI) in 2013 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) showed that the national prevalence for Diabetes Millitus had almost doubled compared to Riskesdas 2007, at 1.1% in 2007 and 2.1 % in 2013 based on diagnosis and symptoms. Anxiety is one psychosocial complications that can arise due to health problems. Anxiety can be controlled with deep breath relaxation measures. Relaxation of deep breath is an attempt to relax the tension of the soul. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques on reducing anxiety levels in Diabetes Millitus patients. This type of research is descriptive study that is applying case studies with nursing action processes in the form of intervention, implementation and evaluation. The sample amounted to 2 clients, the place of study was conducted at the Puskesmas Mayong 1 Jepara. The results of the application of deep breath relaxation therapy that was applied for five days proved to be very effective to apply. Both clients were more calm, cooperative, and more relaxed.
