Abstract

Background: Anxiety is commonly experienced by the children who are facing a nursing care treatment. Children who are hospitalized will disclose their anxiety in which the level of the anxiety is diverse depending on the children’ characteristics. Nebulizer therapy preparation stage can trigger bigger anxiety for the children as they get less therapeutic education. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of plasticine game therapy on preschoolers who experience anxiety due to the administration of nebulizer therapy in Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital, Semarang. Method: This study is Descriptive Study in which the subjects of the study are given the Plasticine Game therapy to help reduce the level of anxiety when they are experiencing nebulizer therapy. The population of this study are preschoolers aged 3-6 years who are hospitalized, while the samples taken are two children who experience anxiety when they are treated by using nebulizer therapy. The children’ anxiety is measured by using a TMAS (Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale) measurement tool. Anxiety data retrieval is done by measuring anxiety before and after the plasticine game Therapy being applied to the children. Result: The study reveals that there is a significant decrease in the anxiety level after the administration of the Plasticine Game therapy. Conclusion: There are differences in anxiety levels before and after the Plasticine Game therapy is being administered which is proven by the decrease in the anxiety scores suffered by the children.
