Abstract
Background: Aging is a process that is unconsciously inherited that runs from time to time to change cells or tissue structure. The aging process causes a decrease in synovial fluid production in joints and muscle tone, the joint cartilage becomes thinner and the ligament becomes stiffer and there is a decrease in flexibility (flexibility), thereby reducing joint movements. ROM exercise is an exercise that moves the joints as optimally and as broadly as possible according to one's ability that does not cause pain in the joints that are moved, in this scientific paper the joints used are knee joints. Objective: This study aims to disclose Range Of Motion exercise implementation to increase knee joint flexibility in the elderly. Research Method: This study is a descriptive study in which it is involving 3 elderly to be treated using Range Of Motion exercise with a focus on a knee joint. By measuring the range of motion of the knee joint before ROM exercises and after ROM exercises. Result: The study reveals that the knee joint flexibility is increasing once the elderly are given Range Of Motion exercise. Conclusion: Respondents 1-3 experience a significant improvement in knee joint flexibility after being treated using Range Of Motion exercise.
