Abstract
Asthma has been known for thousands of years, experts define that asthma is an obstructive airway disease that provides symptoms of coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. The most common problem in asthma patients is shortness of breath. The simplest and most effective method of reducing the risk of stamina is pulmonary secretion and reducing the risk of a decrease in chest wall development by positioning. An effective position for breathless asthma clients is a semi-fowler position with a slope of 450 degrees. That is by using the gravitational force to help the bronchi. The design used was descriptive study. The author describes the management of asthma patient cases by applying the semi-fowler position based on the results of the research with the nursing process approach. The results of this case study report are proven that giving a semi-fowler position is very effective for reducing shortness of breath in asthma patients. The result was the provision of a semi-fowler 45 0 for 3 days of shortness of breath reduced by a respiratory rate of 27 x / minute reduced to a respiratory rate of 20 x / minute. Semi-fowler positioning can be recommended to reduce shortness of breath in asthma patients. Keywords : Asthma, Semi fowler, Shortness of breath.
