Abstract
Background: Gout arthritis is a disease characterized by recurrent pain caused by monosodium urate crystals that accumulate in the joints as a result of high levels of urate in the blood. These needle shaped crystals cause an inflammatory reaction that causes severe pain. Normal uric acid levels in men ranged from 3.5 – 7 mg/dl whereas in women 2.6 – 6 mg/dl, if it exceed the normal limit called hyperuricemia. Use of herbal therapy by consuming soursop leaf decoction can reduce gout pain because it contains tannin, resin, as an analgesic compound that can reduce gout pain. Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to apply nursing care to families to reduce pain in gout sufferers. Writing Method: The type of writing used is descriptive study, where in this case study, subjects with a total of 2 people were given therapy to give soursop leaf decoction water to reduce gout pain. Results: Before therapy for giving soursop leaf decoction water, the average pain scale in patients is 6 (moderate pain). After being given therapy for soursop leaf decoction for 7 days, it was found that the pain was reduced to a pain scale 3 (mild pain). Conclusion : That consuming soursop leaf decoction water can reduce gout pain (moderate level). Keywords : Soursop leaf, Pain of Gout
