Abstract

Infection is still a health problem in the world including Indonesia. Handling infections generally with antibiotics. The relatively high use of antibiotics encourages resistance so that it is urgent to develop antibacterials from natural ingredients. Sap from various kinds of plants has many antibacterial compounds that are widely used as herbal remedies, but further research is needed to find out the sap of plant is able to inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power and the value of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) from plant sap on MRSA growth. The method used is experimental research. The results of the research that has been carried out have obtained sap from Jatropha to inhibit the growth of MRSA with a zone diameter of 16 mm and the value of MIC is 50%. Keywords :Inhibitory power, jatropha (Jatropha curcas), Methicillin – Resistant, Staphylococcus aureus.
