Abstract

Well water or soil becomes the source of the most widely used raw water needs because it is natural, easy to obtain and very low cost. Indonesian people usually directly use the water well without regard to the quality of water, one of the dangerous substances is Iron (Fe). Iron (Fe) which is soluble in water when used can cause health problems, damage to clothing, and home furnishings made from metal. This research is a research on decreasing iron content (Fe) using artificial raw water and multiple tray aerator reactor with variation of height between tray 35 cm and 55 cm as alternative solution to decrease iron content. Artificial raw water prepared with concentration variations of 1 mg / L, 5 mg / L and 10 mg / L and pH 7-8.5 pretreatment before treatment, decreased its iron content by using 3 tray levels and 35 cm distance between tray variations and 55 cm. From result of research, multiple tray aerator reactor have an effect to decrease iron content (Fe) and can know the highest efficiency of iron (Fe) decrease that is variation of distance between tray 55 cm with variation concentration 5 mg / L sequence equal to 38,87 ± 0, 04%.
