Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder diseases caused due to an imbalance between supplies and needs insulin. Not enough insulin or insulin resistance results in the body cannot metabolize glucose efficiently, so that the body will begin to metabolize fat and protein to make up for the shortage of available glucose for energy. The metabolism of fats and proteins in the body will produce the remaining burning called ketones. Ketones accumulate in the blood and flowed into the urine so that the pH of urine tends to be more acid when compared with normal urine without diabetes mellitus. The purpose of the research to know the relationship of fasting blood glucose levels with the pH of the urine in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of research is analytical research. Random samples are taken without regard to age and gender by as much as 48 respondents out of a total population of 55 respondents, then the sample examined glucose fasting blood and urine pH. The results of the analysis of the Shapiro Wilk pointed out that based on the test results the urine pH normality is obtained p value 0.000 < 0.05 and blood sugar levels p 0.000 < 0.05, to know the relationship of these two variables is performed with Spearman correlation test (because p < 0.05), indicating that the significance (p value) 0.003 < 0.05, concluded that there is a significant relationship between the pH of urine with fasting blood sugar levels in diabetics mellitus type. Keywords : fasting blood glucose, pH urine, diabetes mellitus type 2.
