Abstract

Latar Belakang:Kehilangan gigi dapat di kembalikan fungsinya dengan menggunakan gigi tiruan. Permukaan basis gigi tiruan akan menyebabkan kolonisasi dan proliferasi bakteri dan jamur yang menyebabkan denture stomatitis, sehingga edible coating dijadikan sebagai pelapis plat resin akrilik heat cured karena sifatnya sebagai antibakteri yang dapat menurunkan jumlah koloni Streptococcus mutans di plat gigi tiruan. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh plat resin akrilik heat cured dengan edible coating dan tanpa edible coating pada pertumbuhan koloni Streptococcus mutans dengan waktu paparan 24 jam, 48 jam, dan 72 jam. Metode: metode penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimental laboratorium dengan post only group design. Sampel yang digunakan 24 plat resin akrilik heat cured dengan ukuran 64x10x3,3 mm yang terbagi menjadi 6 kelompok yaitu plat resin akrilik yang diolesi edible coating dan tanpa diolesi edible coating pada waktu paparan 24 jam, 48 jam, dan 72 jam. Hasil dan Simpulan: Hasil analisis data menggunakan One Way ANOVA menunjukkan hasil perbedaan bermakna penurunan koloni Streptococcus mutans pada plat resin akrilik yang diolesi edible coating dan tanpa diolesi edible coating pada waktu paparan 24 jam, 48 jam, dan 72 jam yaitu p=0,000 (p<0,05). Jumlah koloni Streptococcus mutans pada plat resin akrilik heat cured yang diolesi edible coating memiliki jumlah koloni Streptococcus mutans lebih sedikit dibandingkan tanpa pengolesan edible coating dan semakin sedikit waktu paparan suspensi Streptococcus mutans jumlah koloni semakin sedikit. Disimpulakn bahwa pengolesan edible coating pada plat resin akrilik heat cured dapat menghambat pertumbuhan koloni Streptococcus mutans. Objective of the Study: To find out the influence of the heat cured acrylic resin plate with the edible coating and without the edible coating towards the growth of Streptococcus mutans in 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours. Method: This research used the laboratory experimental with post only control group design. The samples used were 24 heat cured acrylic resin plates in size 64x10x3,3 mm which were divided into 6 groups: the acrylic resin plate which was applicated with the edible coating and without the edible coating in 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours. Results and Conclusions: The results of the data analysis using One Way ANOVA showed the significant difference reduction of the number of Streptococcus mutans on the acrylic resin plate with edible coating and without edible coating in 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours, showed the value p=0,000 (p<0,05). The number of Streptococcus mutans on the heat cured acrylic resin plate with edible coating had the less number of Streptococcus mutans than the heat cured acrylic resin plate without the edible coating, and the less the time given, the less number of Streptococcus mutans got. It can be concluded that the edible coating on the heat cured acrylic resin plate can blocked the growth of Streptococcus mutans.
