Abstract
Ketonuria is the final product of fatty acid metabolism because of the interference with carbohydrate metabolism, one example is the patient Diabetes mellitus. Ketonuria examination can be done by Rothera method and dipstick method. Examination by Rothera method is done by addition of Rothera powder (Sodium nitroprussida) and concentrated ammonia to form purple compound, while examination by dipstick method is done by dipping strip of reagent into urine then read using Urysis analyzer tool. The objective of this research was to know the difference of ketonuria of Rothera method and dipstick method. The type of this research is analytic study with the number of samples 20 patients Diabetes mellitus taken at random at RSIA Kusumapradja Semarang Jl. Bugangan Raya number 5 Semarang in December 2016. The sample is then examined using both methods and performed different test using Chi Square analysis. The results showed average using Rothera method with strong positive result of 10 patients and negative result of 10 patients, while in dipstick method with weak positive result was 4 patiens and negative was 16 patients. This shows the results of ketonuria examination with Rothera method more strong positive results compared with dipstick method. Independent Sample Test statistic show significance value 0,002 with level of significance 0,05 is 0,002 ≤ 0,05 so it can be concluded that there is significant difference between result of ketonuria examination of Rothera method and dipstick method. Keywords : ketonuria, Rothera methods, the dipstick method
