Abstract
The method of checking blood sugar levels has developed, so that Point of Care Testing (POCT) 3in1 method appears which can measure blood sugar, uric acid and cholesterol levels. The type of examination that must take precedence needs to be considered in order to avoid any influence on the results of subsequent parameter examinations, in particular the examination of blood sugar levels. Blood sugar is prone to glycolysis which the process can be faster due to special conditions such as leucocytosis and diabetes mellitus, so delaying the examination sample can reduce blood sugar levels significantly. This research method is analytic with pre-test and post-test design. The measured blood sugar level is the random blood sugar (RBS) level which is checked immediately and is delayed for 1 minute. The results of the RBS levels that were checked immediately ranged from 84-236 mg/dl with a mean of 146.63 mg/dl. RBS levels that were delayed for 1 minute ranged from 72-230 mg/dl with a mean of 140.69 mg/dl. The Paired T-Test test shows Sig (2-tailed) 0.000<0.05. The concluded that there is an effect of time delay on random blood sugar levels with the POCT method. Keywords: blood sugar levels, capillary blood, delayed, POCT
