Abstract

Platelets play an important role in the response of hemostasis, platelet counts in normal circumstances is 150000-400000 / mm3 bloods. Factors affecting platelet count is a delay of more than 1 hour examination. Dalays often occur because of shipping samples of a ward that is not immediately performed and the shift change by laboratory personnel. The purpose of this study to determine whether there is a time delay effect checks the number of platelets in the EDTA blood were immediately inspected, delayed 1, 2 and 3 hours. This type of research is an experimental research with a quantitative approach. The study design used One Shot Case Study. Sample was taken by purposive sampling as many as six students, then the sample is examined using a 4 treatment is immediately checked, delayed 1, 2, and 3 hours. The test results showed a platelet count immediately checked with delayed 1 hour there is a difference of 5.18%, the platelet count immediately checked with delayed 2 hours there is a difference of 4.78%, the platelet count immediately checked with delayed 3 hours there is a difference of 2.79%, the number of platelets delayed 1 hour with delayed 2 hours there is an increase of 0.42%, the platelet count was delayed 1 hour to 3 hours there is an increase of 2.52%, the platelet count was delayed 2 hours with delayed 3 hours there is an increase of 2.09%. The test results showed that the platelet count is delayed for more than 1 hour decreased. One Way Anova statistical test showed a significance value of 0.986 with significance level is 0.986> 0.05. It can be concluded that there is no effect of time delay platelet examination. Keywords : Effects of time, Total Platelets, Method of Estimation Barbara Brown
