Abstract
Pediculosis capitis is an infection of the scalp or hair due to parasite Pediculus humanus capitis or commonly known as head tuma. Pediculosis capitis infects humans through direct or indirect contact. The purpose of this study is to describe the incidence of pediculosis capitis infection in boarding school X area Genuk Semarang. The study was conducted at boarding school X in Genuk area Semarang. The type of research is descriptive with population of all students in boarding school. Sample of 42 students. The examination was performed by making preparations of adult P.h capitis, nymph and eggs then performed microscopic examination with 100x magnification. The result of examination of 14 students (33.33%) positively suffered from pediculosis capitis and 28 students (66.67%) had negative pediculosis capitis. 14 students positive pediculosis capitis as much as 11 students (26,2%) using comb or hair accessories together, 8 students (19,0%) use pillow or bed together, 10 students (23,8%) lazy to wash hair, 11 students (26.2%) had long hair, and 9 students (21.4%) were 14-17 years old.
