Abstract
Laboratory tests are part of the medical process, from the beginning to monitoring the development of therapy, often the urine examined is delayed due to delayed delivery of the sample. One element in the urine is the ketone body (acetoacetate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, and aceton). Aceton includes a classification of ketones, which evaporate very quickly. The urine ketone is examined by the rothera method. A delayed urine ketone check results in the ketone being negative. This study aims to determine the description of urine ketone examination performed immediately with delayed. The type of this study is descriptive research that describes the results of urine ketone examination immediately and delayed rothera method. The population in this study were all patients who examined routine urine with ketone (+) results performed at the Laboratory of Clinic Prodia Semarang Barat in January 2017 to February 2017. The specimen used for urine ketone examination was urine at the time. The result of the research on 34 samples showed the average of 1 hour and 1.5 hour urine ketone examination was positive as much as 100%, the average of 3% positive delayed urine ketone test result was 9%. Keywords: Urine ketone, immediate examination, delayed examination, rothera method.
