Abstract

Milk is a source of animal protein essential for the fulfillment of human nutrition. As the increase in economic growth and knowledge of the benefits of milk, consumer demand is also increasing, especially in the district Pedurungan Semarang. There are many cases in Indonesia about food products containing formalin, but no research has been reported on the possibility of formalin in fresh cow's milk in the sub-district. The objective of the study was to identify formalin of fresh cow's milk sold in the market Pedurungan subdistrict Semarang city. The type of research is descriptive. Samples were taken from 3 markets and obtained 6 samples of fresh milk, then performed organoleptic test, acidity test (pH), weight test and formalit qualitative test using Formalin Test Kit TFQ-01C reagent with Hehner's method. The results showed that the sample of fresh cow's milk sold in the market Pedurungan subdistrict Semarang city does not contain formalin.
