Abstract

Ice cream cone products sold at Pasar Johar allow for the presence of hazardous dye content of Rhodamin B and Methanyl Yellow. Therefore, it is necessary to research the identification of the synthetic dye of Rhodatmin B and Methanyl Yellow in ice cream cone with paper chromatography. The purpose of this study was to analyze the dyes of Rhodamin B and Methanyl Yellow on ice cream cones circulating in Pasar Johar. The type of this research is descriptive research. The sample was taken by purposive sampling from 3 traders circulating in Pasar Johar. Each of the traders was taken 2 color cone ice cream that is pink and yellow then examined by paper chromatography. The results showed that from 3 samples tested by paper chromatography 2 cone ice cream with pink code sample A and B are declared to contain Rhodamine B and 1 sample of C codel does not contain Rhodamine B, while 3 sample of yellow ice cream cone with sample code D, E and F all contain no Methanyl Yellow. The conclusion is a sample of pink cone ice cream with code sample A and B not in accordance with Regulation of Minister of Health Number 33 Year 2012 because contain Rhodamine B dye which has been prohibited its use in food.
