Abstract

Background: Leukemia is mostly found cancer in children. One of the ALL managements is by chemotherapy. However, the most complained side effects of chemotherapy are nausea and vomiting. Related to this, acupressure is a form of physiotherapy by giving massage and stimulation on certain spots of the body. The acupressure on p6 and St 36 spots will reduce nausea and vomiting. Methodology: It was a descriptive case study that focused on two research subjects. The research subjects were children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) medical diagnosis. The measurement of nausea and vomiting was assisted by Rhodes index nausea, vomiting, and retching (Rhodes INVR) questionnaire. Finding: The finding of the case study showed that the INVR scores were reduced after the acupressure treatment on children with post-chemotherapy nausea and vomiting. The index showed the score of nausea and vomiting was shifted from moderate to mild. Conclusion: This case study proved that acupressure treatment could significantly reduce postchemotherapy nausea and vomiting in children. Keywords: chemotherapy, nausea and vomiting, acupressure
