Abstract

Knowing the newborn's weight is a parameter that can be used as a benchmark for the baby's health. The purpose of this study was to identify variables that could influence the occurrence of Low Birth Weight (LBW) in newborns at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Temanggung in 2021. This study using case control with a sample of 64 newborns taken by purposive sampling. Secondary data obtained from medical record. The chi-square test was used to analyze the relationship between variables. The results of the chi square test consisted of five variables, and two of them were variables indicating anemia status of the mother (p=0.039) and mid upper arm circumference (MUAC) (p=0.001) showing association with the incidence of Low Birth Weight (LBW) in infants. The p value for the variable age of the mother during pregnancy was 0.083> 0.05, and the p value for parity was 0.491 which was not correlated with the incidence of LBW.
